My name is Pigeon Smith and I am a Maryland based photographer with a passion for the natural world. I started photography in my home state of Maryland where I graduated from the Montgomery College photography program. In search of new experiences I moved to New Orleans. I photographed the big easy from 2021-2023 before returning to pursue a degree in environmental science from the University of Maryland.
     My work behind the lens often focuses on creating documentary style images through carefully framed, empty, snapshots of the anthropocene and the mark we as humans will leave on the world around us. To accomplish this I lean heavily on my love of geography where I spend time studying maps in order to find new places to explore. I also have expertise in shooting travel, landscape, and wildlife photos. In addition to photography I enjoy hiking, ornithology, and reading.
